Classroom Library
Why is it that classroom libraries are always thought to only be in an English or History class? Classroom libraries, believe it or not, are starting to appear across the content areas... including mathematics! Classroom libraries can become a means of showing the students how mathematics is acquired and used in the real world. A content are library should, if at all possible, reflect the interests of the teacher AND the students. It cannot just be things that the teacher likes, because then it may not be things that the students actually care about. According to VisualThesaurus some books to include are Driving Mr. Albert and Possessing Genius: The True Account of the Bizarre Odyssey of Einstein's Brain. These books do well to show students how mathematics is used in the modern world and what people do with a vast amount of mathematical knowledge.
